Gumball handbags, giraffe earrings, gowns with tiers (upon tiers!) of neon ruffles  — these are just a few of the eclectic, colorful pieces that demonstrate fashion designer Betsey Johnson's playful, punk-rock style. But her quaint Hamptons cottage might be be the closest thing to "plain and simple" she's ever created.

The home has all of the hallmarks of a traditional coastal home, like whitewashed panelling and lots of cool aqua and sunny yellow hues. Pale marble countertops, a streamlined soaker tub, and even a perfectly rectangular pool complete the humble, uncomplicated sapce.

But if you look closely, you can see the Betsey we know and love — starting with all that glorious floral wallpaper. The pink-and-blue print even climbs up the ceilings in the kitchen — proof that the designer just couldn't resist it. Plus, ever a layering expert, she placed pieces of art right on top of the paper, from the row of colorful ceramics in the kitchen, to the vibrant array on the mantle.

According to the New York Post, Johnson is moving to Malibu to be closer to her family — and recently hosted a yard sale at her house. So even if you didn't have the $2 million necessary to buy the cottage itself, you could still own a bit of Betsey style on Long Island this summer.
